Symptoms:

Pain in one or both of the temporomandibular joints
Pain or tenderness of your jaw
Aching pain in and around your ear
Difficulty or painful chewing
Aching facial pain
Locking of the joint, difficult to open or close your mouth

Causes of TMJ

Mechanical – cervical subluxations, poor posture, tight jaw muscles with trigger points, jaw dysfunction
Emotional – increased emotional stress can cause jaw clenching and tightness
Nutritional – due to high or prolonged stress, the TMJ muscles requirement for protein increases. Protein deficiency can lead to TMJ and/or other health challenges.
Combination of mechanical, emotional and/or nutritional stress on the body.

Dr. Keith’s Treatment for TMJ:

Simple cases: The mechanical approach of chiropractic adjustments to the spine and jaw, correcting postural deviations and trigger point work in the mouth are enough to correct most TMJ issues.

Complex cases:
When the mechanical approach isn’t enough to correct TMJ issues, supporting the body emotionally and nutritionally need to be considered. Dr. Keith performs an Emotional Breathing Release Technique to help his patients release emotion stress from their body.  He offers customized enzyme nutrition to support the body’s nutritional imbalances.

Everyone has different kinds of stress in their life, manages it differently, therefore has different causes of health challenges. Dr. Keith is an expert at identify where the primary source of stress is on all of his patients. He then customizes a care plan specific to their body’s needs for proper healing to occur.

Testimonial
“I’ve been going to Dr Giaquinto for 2 1/2 months. I came in because I had TMJ as a result of an accident. I went initially to my dentist because I could barely open my mouth. we worked on exercises and massage to no avail. They suggested Botox or Chiropractic.  I had a friend who was going to Dr Keith so I asked her if he saw patients for TMJ (he does).  The first week he worked on my upper back and neck, the second week he started working on my jaw and neck. I noticed a change quickly and at 2 1/2 months I am able to open my jaw fully without pain! It still stiffens up a bit when it’s cold outside but what a difference!”
Thank you Dr Keith!    – Kay
